International Students

SATC’s main philosophy is flexibility. This allows us to work with our International Students and customize a training programs that suits your needs and requirements. We don’t have formalized semester dates, so you can start flying as soon as you arrive. SATC is open seven days a week (only closing on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day), has a fleet of twelve planes and a full staff of instructors. This allows students the opportunity to maximize their time while conducting their flight training. As a full time student your flight training schedule will be like any other form of Post Secondary education. If you work five full days a week (eight hours a day) studying, flying and receiving Ground Instruction you will likely be able to complete the following training in ten to twelve months:

  • Private Pilot's Licence
  • Commercial Pilot's Licence
  • Multi Engine Rating
  • Mulit Engine Instrument Rating
  • Night Rating
  • Mountain Rating

In order to start your training, please complete an Application Form. Once SATC has accepted your application you will need to complete an Application to Study in Canada. When we have received your application an SATC representative will contact you to confirm which programs you would like to complete, how long you are planning on staying and your preferred date of arrival. Once you have been accepted to SATC we require a deposit of $5000 in order to secure your place. This deposit will be placed on the student’s training account and will be put towards the cost of flight training. Please note that SATC does not have onsite student accommodation or transport. There is no public transport to the Springbank Airport, where SATC is located, so it is recommended that student’s acquire an international driver’s licence and purchase a car. SATC staff are available to facilitate this process, and answer any questions you may have.

Upon arrival in Canada you will be greeted at the Calgary International Airport by an SATC representative. You will then be taken to your prearranged accommodations where we will help you get settled and organized. Information will be provided in regards to locating grocery stores and other shops, and accessing public transport. SATC staff are happy to assist in any way to help the student settle in comfortably so they can begin their studies right away.
